Boston Qualifier

Running Accomplishments:

3:28 first marathon at the Rocket City Marathon in Huntsville, Alabama in 2006.  Since then, running has fallen by the wayside a little bit, still participate in the random 5k to 10k distance, but I've slowed down a good bit since high school--wasn't that fast to begin with unfortunately!

Short-Term Running Goals:

Run another marathon in Fall 2009 Spring 2010, and qualify once more for Boston.  Run Boston in the spring (2011?); participate in my first short-distance triathalon?!!?

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running for the rest of my life!

Personal:

I've just finished my degree in Microbiology.  My favorite things to do always involve the outdoors.  Running is my semi-serious sport, but I relax with climbing.  I guide rafts on the Arkansas river in Colorado during the summers, and I'm hoping to get into medical school in 2010.  Other than that, there's not much to me... I enjoy friends, good fresh vegetables and home-cooked food, my dog Pudding, talking to my family long-distance, and sleeping under the stars.  My most favorite thing in the world is water in its various forms (snow, ice, liquid), whether its a frozen waterfall or the ocean or the river.  A close second is trailrunning when I'm fit... though these days it's more of a struggle to get going than I'd like.

Running through the rainy bike paths of Belfast, near the river Lagan.  It's become one of my favorite places to go in the city.  50 minutes overall, very slow pace.

Climbing on the physical education center wall from 7-9; bad climbing form, got pumped very easily! A little worrying, considering that the Gola trip is coming up soon.  Plan on getting down to the wall later and doing a little bouldering on my own.  I hope that getting my arms pumped and letting them recover for the next two weeks might give me a little more strength for Gola.

River raft guiding again this summer? Sounds like a blast.

You know, they've got some pretty epic ultras out there...

If I could ever find the time to head up there I would, but I think that the powers that be are going to keep me locked up in my office all summer.

As far as training for the run, I'm just keeping my mileage base up, so we'll see what happens. I'm only going to be able to run the last two days, which amounts to between 60 and 70 miles, so it should be alright...
